Sena Prism Tube Helmet Camera

2 March 2018
The Good: Camera was easy to install, and the microphone/speaker were also easily lined in around my helmet padding, held in place with a bit of electrical tape. Videos are good quality, and the microphone picks up sound at a good distance around me, meaning conversations can be had with the helmet on and the other person can be heard during the playback. Operation (on/off) is, for the most part, decent; though the camera angle is tweaked 'off center' if the on/off operation is done in haste. Battery life is around 4-5 hours, which I'm quite happy with. The Bad: I bought this camera because one of the selling points was the 'weather proofing' designed into it - as I live in the tropics, rain is, basically, a constant threat with passing showers very common. While the micro-usb connection has not faulted, I cannot say the same for the rest of the camera housing. I don't know where the moisture entered, perhaps the slide on/off switch, but the moisture that DID get inside has fogged up the interior of the lens. Though inconvenient, this was remedied my removing the protective outer lens cover and wiping it out with a soft cloth. The inner camera lens, which refracts the image to the sensor, also fogged up. I cleared this moisture by removing it from the device (simply by unscrewing it) and balancing it atop a lit 40w light bulb and letting it sit there to 'bake' moisture out from inside. I would like to advise strict caution when this piece is removed, as the sensor is directly exposed, so put on the rubber dust cover and set it aside in a safe place, while the lens is being 'cooked'. After two hours, I reassembled the two pieces and camera was back to full operation. Additional: Though the Sena Prism Tube fogged up after riding in the rain, requiring a bit of disassembly and effort to clear it up, the camera has no permanent damage from the moisture. I am very happy with the camera and Sena's customer support, and would highly recommend the camera to any and all riders.

- I’m unsure from your description if the moisture is under the Protection Lens or under the actual Lens? If it is under the Protection Lens you can unscrew it and allow it to dry naturally or gently using a clean microfibre cloth (be sure it’s clean to avoid scratching the lens). - Could you please check when you have your Speaker/Mic connected into the rear of the Tube that you also have the rear cap cover is screwed in place over the top. The Prism Tube is water resistant and is fine to ride in wet weather. It is most likely you have condensation under your lens, which is something that often happens with cameras in coastal and tropical environments where there is a dramatic change in temperature or humidity. Transferring the camera and lens from a cool, low-humidity environment location such as your home, car or hotel room directly into a warmer, high-humidity environment causes condensation to form on the lens. Tips for using Cameras in Coastal and Tropical climates Store you camera outside of the air-conditioning (but in a safe sheltered location) so it is acclimatised to the weather in which you will be riding. Keep a microfibre cloth handy. You are correct in waiting for nature to run its course for the condensation to dissipate

love the camera fits straight on my helmet, easy to install and use. The voice prompts are great, so easy to tell when the camera is filming. The camera is extremely light weight and doesn't weigh your head down and I barely know it's there. The video quality isn't amazing but still really clear and for the low price and size of the camera it's great... would definitely reccomed this camera.
